Open your world
If you're interested in moving outside of routine, if you can take the challenge to take on the world, I can't recommend Perspectives on the World Christian Movement highly enough.  I went through it maybe 7 or 8 years ago, and found it more compelling than my seminary missions classes.  Perspectives is a 15-week course, taught in 3-hour sessions at locations around the U.S., that teaches about God's heart for every nation and how we can be a part of it.   Please take a look at their info site, perspectives.org, and see if it's being taught near you.  Are there any other readers here who have been through it?

Hey there Jim,
I sent you an email but it is possible that I may not have the right address since it has been forever since we last talked. I love hearing about what is going on with you guys. You do feature in my thoughts a lot; and when i forget I'm reminded by your thoughtful reflections on life over there. I really miss Thailand sometimes. I have never taken the Perspectives course, but I did hear good things about it...Its just a good concept in general to have a more global view on the gospel instead of staying cooped up in our little surroundings and never looking outward.
I hope everyone is doing well over there. I have lots of friends asking about Narimon and wanting to buy both jewelery and cards. Is it possible to buy jewelery online?

Do you still need help editing the newsletter? I'm a friend of Mike and Kay's (we were at their wedding), and I'm also an English professor. If the editing is for clarity and style (rather than layout), let me know if I can help. Mike has my contact info--I'd rather not post it here.

I'm having a Narimon party for my Mom and her friends this Friday. The jewelry looks great! People love the bags. I'm looking forward to sharing your ministry with some new people.

My wife and I took the Perspectives course in the Fall of 2001 after returning from a two-week mission trip to Bangkok. It helped us to process much of what we had seen and experienced. I especially enjoyed the rotating session leaders. You'll hear from many experienced folks. If you're thinking about going into cross-cultural mission work, I would strongly encourage you to find a Perspectives class and jump in! Our family is now in our second year of church-planting work in Bangkok.

Hi, I'm Amanda, I'm not sure you remember me, but I was friends with Lukey back in Highschool.I'm not entirely sure this place is appropriate to ask, but I can't figure out a way to contact you. I was wondering if I could do a photo journal on your program in Bangkok, I would love to interview your staff and the women you work with. Could you please email me? And if I'm being very rude by asking this via this blog, I'm really really sorry.

I haven't been through it, but it is taught at the Church in Iowa City where Michaela and I will be going and many of the people in the congregation have highly recommended it. I hope that while we are here we will be able to take the course, but some of it will depend on my commitments with school and the timing of when it is available.

Glad to know that you recommend it. It gives me more assurance that it would be worth making time for.

Hope you are all well :)

I did the perspectives course just before taking a five month short-term volunteer teaching position in India - and it *was* a great course. The guest lecturers were great, the content was well structured and I learned so much!
