Joy in working

One of the greatest joys of being here is watching our employees find joy and dignity in working.  Some don’t have prior experience sewing, but they enjoy learning and are improving steadily.  Prang is a great manager, delegating responsibilities and tasks to maximize the talent we do have.  It’s exciting to watch them finish a good day’s work.  They seem to have a bit more joy taking care of their families with money they’ve earned themselves.  One day, Prang’s sister, Si, showed me a pair of pajama pants she’d been working on for quite some time.  She had spent several days practicing a straight stitch.  She smiled as she showed me how she sewed the cuff of the pants straight.  As I examined them and smiled back with a “Very good!  So straight!”  She beamed, gave me a hug and said I gave her “power” to work better.  I struggled for the next 5 minutes to keep my eyes dry (sometimes Prang worries about me going back to America when I cry!).Our Employees!  Pictured from left to right are Me, Yah, Sumran, Si, Suk and Prang.  Sumran was nervous about smiling for the camera, but she is quite the social butterfly.
